Have you noticed yourself sweating more than the others do in an air-conditioned room? Have you felt ashamed to raise your arms because of the dark and wet spot on your clothes due to sweaty armpits?
You're not alone with this problem, you may feel like it and the only reason for that is.. people don't want to share this problem because of the embarrassment of it all. We can help you on your way though.
We should take a look in more
detail at the reasons why sweating happens so we have a
ground knowledge and foundation of why it happens.

Sweating or perspiration is
our body's natural response to heat, physical exertion,
stress or nervousness. When sweat evaporates on our skin
surface, it gives a cooling effect on our body. Some
studies also states that our sweat gives phenomenal cues
like attracting the opposite sex. However, what if
sweating becomes excessive? Could it still be
attractive? I bet not.
Excessive sweating, medically
known as hyperhydrosis, is a major turn-off during a
date or even when you are in crowd. In return, it may
give you emotional stress, social stigma, and may lead
you to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars to repair
this disorder.
Excessive armpit sweating is
the most annoying case of hyperhydrosis for it is often
associated with bad odor. Based on statistics, around
two to three percent of the world's population is
experiencing sweaty armpits.
Break out in a Cold
Sweat
The cause of sweaty armpits
is different among individuals. Anxiety is one of the
major attributes of over sweating. In a natural setting,
stress is a consequence of sensing something harmful. An
organism in such state has only two choices: to fight or
to flight. Fight the harmful creature or run away from
it. When an organism becomes stressed, it would emit a
substance to recover from the tension. In our case, when
we are stressed with work, relationships, fear, etc. our
body's tendency is to produce ample amounts of sweat.
The cure for such is to change the situation by fight or
flight. Transfer to a different job, look for a
different partner, or conquer your fears.

There ARE Solutions However..
There are numerous ways to
help you stop or relieve sweaty armpits and these are as
follows:
1. Put on an antiperspirant.
Aluminum ions, the main ingredient of antiperspirants,
slow down the production of sweat. Antiperspirant
decrease the amount of sweat produced by 20% only. If
there is excessive sweating, a normal antiperspirant
would not be the solution.
2. Have a water therapy.
"Less water intake means less sweating"-this statement
is purely myth. Because it's the other way around. Less
water intake would lead the body to perspire more
because it would need a means to cool down the body's
temperature. Just like an octane racing car. It needs
oil to keep its machine cool. But when the oil goes
lower than the required limit, the temperature of the
machine goes up.
3. Sweat something off by
doing regular cardiovascular exercise. Various studies
have proven that exercise keeps the mind and body in
good condition. Cardiovascular exercises are executed by
individuals to make their blood circulation healthy, and
thus the body's temperature.
4. Have B vitamins and
Magnesium intakes. Taking up B vitamins supports and
increases the body's metabolism. When the body's
metabolism is accurate, cooling mechanism of the body is
in good shape as well. On the other hand, magnesium aids
the body in detoxifying the poisons stored in our
system. When there is enough magnesium, there is no need
to sweat a lot to detoxify the body.
5. Inject some Botox. Botox
have been proven to cure various aesthetic concerns of
the body, and these include excessive armpit sweating.
Botox treatment does not need anesthesia and can give
you results in 48 hours. Its effect can last from four
to seven months. This means that you need to have the
treatment two times in a year which amounts to $1,400 to
$2,000 annually.
6. Take anticholinergic drugs.
These drugs are taken orally to cure hyperhydrosis. But of
course, you need to visit the doctor first and ask for the
right prescription to your dilemma.
7. Treat it with tap-water
iontophoresis (TWI). If antiperspirants are not effective,
TWI is usually recommended by physicians. The underarms are
placed in water baths connected to a Galvanic Unit for 10-20
minutes. This treatment is repeated two to three times a
week for several months, depending on the case of the
patient. However, this treatment may produce some side
effects like burning sensations, skin redness and electrical
stinging. Aside from these side effects, it is also time
consuming and the treatment itself is quite expensive.
8.
Have a surgery. If the other solutions are not effective,
some individuals resort to undergoing a surgery. But this
also does not guarantee 100% cure to all patients. Some
experience compensatory hyperhydrosis after the surgery.
Their body parts have imbalanced sweating, wherein there are
areas with less sweat while the others have more sweat
production. And just like any surgery, the patient is prone
to infection. Reports have shown that armpit surgery have
2-5% failure rate.

Excessive armpit sweating is
indeed a difficult problem to solve. We must first trace the
cause of this situation to know the most probable cure to
your sweaty armpits. However, if there is an ultimate cure
which provides long lasting effects and positive results,
why think twice? This may be the way to have flawless,
sweat-free, and odor-free armpits.
